Pet-Friendly Workplaces

In pet-friendly communities, workplaces welcome pets. Whether through policies that allow pets to accompany staff and guests or through benefits that allow staff to better care for their pets, pet-friendly workplaces support pets and their owners — and for good reason!

Pets Improve Workplace Well-Being

Staff members who bring their pets with them don’t have to worry about leaving their pets at home or in the care of a sitter all day. Fewer worries translates into happier, healthier employees.

Pets Improve Staff Satisfaction

Staff members of businesses with pet-friendly policies report greater job satisfaction, less stress, and greater morale.

Even staff members who don’t have a pet can benefit from simply being around pets while on the job. The presence of pets can serve as an ice-breaker in social situations, easing introductions and the development of stronger relationships between co-workers and even clients and customers.

Pets Attract Talent

Many people say they’d be more likely to join or stay at a company that allows pets. In fact, a Mars Petcare survey found that 87 percent of employers say that being dog-friendly helps them attract and retain more talent. That sentiment goes both ways — nearly 60 percent of employees say they would choose a dog-friendly employer over one who’s not.

Pets Add Value

Members of a pet-friendly pilot community in Franklin, Tennessee had a chance to try out a variety of pet-friendly policies and amenities first-hand. When surveyed, 79% of participants reported valuing policies that allowed pets in businesses.

Pets Attract Customers

With pet ownership on the rise, pets are exerting more influence on how, when, and where their owners spend their money than ever before. People with pets are more likely to visit businesses with pet-friendly policies and amenities and are likely to stay longer when they do. A survey of residents involved in a pet-friendly pilot program found that 79% valued businesses that welcomed their pets.

Pets can help open your business up to new customers and get existing ones excited about coming back.
